What the heck is wrong with my face!!?
Alright I am tired of this! I've had acne for a long time now. Last year around this same time I broke out with bad bad acne....I tried every single freaking treatment for it. I used various of the cheap tube stuff that you can find at wal-mart. Didn't work. I tried proactive. Didn't work. I went to the dermatologist, he prescribed me some pills and two different pastes. Didn't work. I put freaking potatoes on my face. Didn't work. Than I basically just gave up. Stopped all treatment and just forgot about it.
Alright so then this summer that just passed I spent out of the country. And for some reason, while I was out of the country....I HAD VERY LITTLE ACNE! O_O (By the way, while I was out of the country I was very very happy, best time of my life). Okay so then as soon as I got back home I started slowly getting more and more acne. AND NOW IM BREAKING OUT AGAIN!! AHHHHHHHH
What the flip! Im so tired of this! What should I do?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You’re probably allergic to something around you or something you’re eating. I would keep a journal and mark down everything you regular eat for a month. After that, remove one thing every 2 weeks. Let’s use dairy as an example. After that month of logging everything, remove all dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream, any and every milk bi-product) from your diet. For just two weeks. That way it will give any flair ups time to heal, etc. After the two weeks are up, if that wasn’t the cause, you can add that back into your diet, but remove something else.
By going 2 weeks without the things, you’re cleansing your body of it and checking to see if that’s what was causing your acne. You may not be allergic per say, but some foods do cause different reactions for every person. I would also suggest getting an allergy test done. They check for all airborne allergies. Trees, grass, pollen, etc.
Good luck!

Acne breakouts can be caused by many things, including stress. From your comment "I was very very happy [in the country]" I’m gathering that you are not as happy at home and possibly experience a stress at home. Try to find ways to either eliminate your stress or to control your reaction to stress (learn about meditating/yoga, etc. as coping mechanisms for stress).
Also, because you are conscious of the acne, you may be touching your face a lot… the oils & dirt from your hands are going into the pores of your face, causing more acne. When you were in the country, you were probably really busy/active & not focused as much on your face & not touching it all the time. Try to keep your hands off your face and keep your face clean. Find a good acne medicine & use it (but don’t over-use because that can dry you out & cause acne) and also keep your hair clean… I find that when I skip a day or two shampooing, I get some acne breakouts on my face (I’m guessing oil & bacteria on head make their way to the face).
Also – it sounds like you move from acne medicine to a new acne medicine quite frequently. Maybe stick with ONE for a while. I used Proactive for a while, which did clear up my acne (now I only use it if I start to have a lot of breakouts). Like the girl mentioned above, I tend to break out more when I’m going to have my period… that’s when I break out the Proactive for a couple weeks. I have noticed that often, when I start using Proactive again, I break out a little more for the first week or so and then my skin starts to clear up… almost like your skin has to get used to the medicine or something. I suggest giving Proactive another shot for several weeks.
I suppose it is possible that you are allergic to some of the ingredients in acne medicine… maybe you should mention this concern to your dermatologist?
