What sort of moisturizer should I use for my very dry and very sensitive skin?

I was recently prescribed to a Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser and Zania gel to treat my blackheads and slight acne. Both (the cleanser, especially) have been drying out my face IMMENSELY! My dermatologist told me that if my skin starts to dry out, take a break from the wash (peroxide cleanser) for about four days, but continue the use. I have since taken the break, continued the usage, and limited the wash to once a day, whereas whenever else I wash, I just use regular soap. My skin is still very dry to the point of peeling, but also very sensitive. I can't find a really great moisturizer that doesn't hurt, sting, or cause redness when I use it on my very dry skin. I need a moisturizer VERY badly. I have used Aveeno, Cetaphil, and St. Ives moisturizers, and all result in me rushing to the bathroom sink to relieve my face of incredible discomfort.

Does anybody know of a moisturizer that might fit my situation?

  1. Mario Badescu is fantastic, espcially for teen skin, he has a special acne website.
What you can also do which will really really help with your dry skin is take Evening Primrose Oil 3 tablets a day and zinc (1 x 50mg). (I’m a beauty therapist and this is what I recommend to most of my clients with your type of skin). Don’t forget to also drink 1.5-2 litres of water a day to keep in hydrated. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you put ON your skin, because it’s what goes inside that will show on the outside.
The Evening Primrose oil and zinc work in helping the skin to keep it supple and help with any inflamation and dryness (It’s like putting oil for your car engine)! x

  2. Clean And Clear moisturizers work very well.

  3. I have Discoid Lupus which is a skin condition…I have tried just about everything and been on just about every cream available. I had to go steroids. I started using Oil of Olay moisturizer it’s in a purple bottle sorry I buy it in large quantities which the label comes off. I put it on my face and it makes it so much softer. I also switched to a mineral make up!! I even have bought the mineral make up for my niece and what a difference in her skin with the lotion!!

  4. http://www.skinsosilky.com/skincare/77-moisturizerskincare.htm can help you choose the best one for your skin. My advice is to stop using the cleaner and find other non-drying acne treatment since this one gives you more problems.
