What is the best skin care facial product for severe acne?

Im am a teenager with severe acne/blackheads and oily skin type. For daily use, I wash my face with a light foam cleanser but it isnt doing much help for my acne. (I also use witch hazel toner) I have heard from many people that nutregena and proactive work realy well. But I have also heard that proactive has alot of chemicals in it that can OVER dry your skin. I usually wear makeup to school to hide my hideous face full of acnes. If any of you out there has had this experience and/or know a few things about treating acne, PLEAAAASE give me suggestions and any skin care products you recomend. Thank you so much and all your help is appreciated!

  1. Because you’re a teenager your hormone are pretty much the cause of the acne I would say
Try a facial cleanser that offers aid in acne treatment but on the light side like Clearasil Oil-Free Gel Wash that has 2% salicilic acid
Witch hazel may be too harsh for your severe acne as it contains 14% alcohol, consider an oil-free toner like Thayer’s that has aloe & vitamin E. It cost more but worth it, I personally use it twice a day
Apply with a cotton round and wiping your clean face and neck after washing your face and neck
Use another clean cotton round with toner until it comes clean
Use a acne cleansing pad like Oxy (the sensitive one/green) that also offers acne treatment but on a gentle scale for you

The makeup you use may also contribute to your acne, use Clean and Clear for facial cleanser for sensitive skin as it says on the bottle that it helps remove makeuap
Products like mineral oil and petroleum hurt the skin so shy away from them
Consider what you eat, no fried no bake goods as they have oil that may contribute to your problems with acne

And be patient, it takes time to be rid of acne, cleaning your system within such as a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, weekly facial steaming to deep clean your pores, a facial sponge to remove the dead skin layers ( go easy on the sponge), keeping your hand off your face ( our skin is like a sponge) and clean pillowcases or place clean hand towels on the pillows changing as much as possible

  2. pro active is what saved my life…. it can dry out your skin but it depends on the person. if it drys out your skin use another moisturizer… on top of the one they provide… it did and it worked wonders.

  3. I used the Clinique acne stuff. I had severe acne and tried everything you can imagine, only the clinique soap, lotion and astringent helped. You might want to give it a try. It worked for me and the soap kit last forever.

  4. the best product that you should use is the very first product u use when u are a kid. Me, my very first product i use is Dove and i still use it today and i think it will be forever.. So you think of the very first product that u use on your skin (not use facial cleansers because have u ever use it when u are a kid.no right.) because your skin/face get used to it and when you change it from other skincare products it became sensitive.

After washing your face, put some moisturizer or antibacterial topical cream. Over the counter products can also be used because the one prescripted by dermatologists are all the same. It differs only on the name of the brand.

After putting on moisturizer, apply some face powder. the one that is mild or baby powder, it should not have any glitters or color, the pure white, to avoid oily face. Then during your break time (in school or after lunch at home) wash your face only with water and apply again some face powder. there’s no need to put moisturizer or creams(only night and morning is enough) At night, do not apply face powder for your face to rest and breath.

Remember to drink lots and lots of water. You may heard that you should not eat food high in cholesterol, sweets, and other specific foods but are you letting yourself to suffer eating your favorite. You can still eat those but always remember to drink lots and lots of water to flush all unnecessary’s and toxins that can contribute to acne.

Don’t ever touch your skin with your hands. Even though it’s itchy. That’s the only sacrifice you should do to prevent acne so why not follow it.

There’s no need for you to go to dermatologist or facial salon. It’s so expensive and it will not only hurt your pocket but yourself. Imagine how they force the acne out on your face and will irritate your skin. They can clear your skin from acne but they can not bring back your original smooth face.

Don’t apply make up. Only powder is good. you will experience aging in a short while if you apply make up.

Lastly, observe your diet and personal hygiene

    Hope it helps you.

  5. Just so you know Proactiv is not that only product that has a lot of CHEMICALS. Most products you buy in a store will be completly chemicals. witch hazel is great in a toner..but I’m sure the one you have is loaded with chemicals, colors, and who knows what else. I had so many problems with products making my skin worse or irritating it. About two years ago I switched over to all organic products. What I have found that works best for me (and is cheaper):
cleaner: anything with a castile soap base. I now use one with lemon, red clover and burdock (lemon cleaner from mountian Rose)

toner: Flower water. Whats works best for acne are products with witch hazel, tea tree, etc..

Weekly scrub: I make my own most of the time. I use organic sugar, coconut oil, neem oil, honey, etc..

mask: I use a french green clay

I also use a mix of essential oils and emu oil after toning

if you do have acne and then cover it with tons of makeup (which is loaded with tons of chemicals) it will cause it to become worse. I would suggest using mineral makeup. A lot of it can cost a lot. I go on ebay and get bulk foundiation that lasts me a year or more for about 20 bucks.

    * there are tons of herbs and essential oils out there that are great for acne: burdock, redclover, tea tree, and many more.

*A mix of good quality aloe(no colors, additives etc) and coconut oil works great. a little goes a long way with all organic oils, cleaners, etc
