What is the best acne product?

My gf has some acne products. She's beautiful, don't get me wrong for all you feminists out there, but she isn't as confident as I'd like to see her. She always asks why are you dating me, I'm so ugly! and things like that. I want to help her. We have talked about getting a product for treatment and she wouldn't mind me buying it for her I'd just have to buy it because she does not have the money and it is something I want to do for her

SOOOO....my question is based on personal or second hand experience what is the best product that you guys have tried and that has worked?
her acne is consisted of black heads mostly but also a lot of small red pimples and occasionally big deep ones. thanks for your help!

  1. Looking for the best acne product, eh? PATIENCE, my dear, yes, patience is the best acne products!

I can imagine you’re laughing or probably shocked at the answer above. OK, let’s do some explanation and break down the walls of ambiguity. Is there any one cure for hunger? Food, you would say. OK, what quantity of food cures hunger? OK, you’re thinking…yes, you finally got it – ”..depends on how hungry the person is or the appetite for food”

Exactly! Your girlfriend’s skin type will basically determine the type of products to use to treat / cure her acne. It’s like the lock and key: until you find the right key to the door lock, you will as sure as heaven is real continue to grope in the dark.

There are 3 basic skin types – Oily, normal and dry. There are also skin types that are a combination of these 3 types and there are different products for caring for each. The most prone to acne skin type is naturally the oily.

From your description of your beautiful girlfriend’s acne, I can decipher that she has acne vulgaris in its 2nd degree stage. Acne Vulgaris or common acne may cause several types of pimples including blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, papules, nodules and cysts. Acne cysts are the most severe of these and are characteristics of severe acne vulgaris. Acne cysts, both traditional and adult acne cysts, can become quite painful.

EFFECTIVE PRODUCTS: Luckily, with advancement in medicine, most products nowadays are suitable for all skin types, but dosage / usage as recommended by a competent physician may slighty vary based on skin type or skinpH.

    (1) Benzoyl Peroxide: Available in both OTC and prescription drugs. It works against cystic acne by totally killing the bacteria that causes acne. It can be used alongside other treatments in the fight against acne cysts. The combination of benzoyl peroxide and the organic drug, Adapalene, coupled together ina gel is profoundly effectivein treating acne patients aged over 12. The gel cures both facial acne and acne on other parts of the body.

    (2) SkinB5 – SkinB5 internal supplements is suitable for all skin types – most ideal for teenage and adult acne sufferers. Use only as prescribed by a competent physician.

    (3) Isotretinoin – A form of vitamin A is the best treatment option for cystic acne. It is very comprehensive as it helps to treat all the four factors of acne formation – excess oil, clogged pores, inflammation and the bacteria. Not to be used by women during pregnancy.

    (4) Meladerm- This is also known to be very effective in curing severe acne and its accompanying spots etc, but it requires time and patience to achieve total cure.

    (5) Oral Antibiotics: Suitable for mild acnes and all skin types (but depending on the acne stage in oily skin), tetracycline, erythromycin, doxycline have been known to produce satisfactory results. The choice of antibiotics is best left to your doctor and he will know the best time to switch antibiotics (to avoid bacteria resistance).

    (6) Acne Surgery: This is the surgical removal of cyst. It is usually the last resort remedy especially when the acne becomes extremely severe. In the process, the acne is lanced and drained of its pus content akin to whitelow surgery.

    (7) Effecive Home Remedies: These are the cheapest, cost free acne treatment, but are by no means less effective than any of the other methods higlighted above.Treatments include mango paste (which is now being touted by research scientists as a possible cure for cancer), apple cider, vinegar. They are indeed very effective and safe to use.

CONCLUSION: As a medic, I come in contact with a lot of people everyday with all sorts of ailments. I know people who cured their acne totally with only Clearasil, only Terrasil, only Meladerm, and believe it or not, with even only the Ghana native black soap! PATIENCE to allow each medicine to work was the common denominator in all cases. Whatever method you choose, you must follow religiously this principle that I always advise young people (who always are in a hurry and end up putting the cart before the horse): START WITH A RIGHT MEDICAL COUNSEL + RIGHT MEDICNE USED AS PRESCRIBED BY THE MEDICAL COUNSEL + PATIENCE = TOTAL CURE. Avoid the use of any of the rash of acne elixirs or magic cures in the market! Do not experiment with cheap OTC drugs out there!!

Stay healthy always – Health is wealth.

  2. Well, there never is a "best" one. Neutrogena is a great skin product, and their acne treatments have always worked for me. If she is really determined she can try a prescription from her doctor but it dries out your face immensely, any really good product will. The best I can say is try for neutrogena, or see a dermatologist- they always know what to do :)

  3. i use nivea visage ‘YOUNG’
it is a daily deep cleansing wash which help prevents spots and blackheads for refined skin.
it has pore cleansing power beads for a pure effect.
i think its great as it is hard to find a product for my sensitive skin
    all the best
    x

  4. u should use dr bronners tea tree oil castile soap it clears all acne face body wherever, use it with a loofah. its better than anything else out there(IMO), even hormonal acne
