What are some solutions for acne scarring? Blackheads?

I used to struggle with some moderate to severe acne when I was younger. I had blackheads, white/yellowheads, and just plan acne... not only on my face, but on my back and chest as well. Now, I tend to break out around once a month along with the occasional zit here and there. However, my back and chest acne is completely eliminated (excluding the rare, mild, zit that pops up once every few months.)

After trial and failure, and a little growing up, my acne has subsided greatly. I now use both the Equate (Walmart) Medicated Apricot Scrub as an exfoliant and the Clean and Clear Advanced Acne Solutions Kit (Cleanser, Lotion, and Spot Treatment). I also use the Nutrogena Wave (as of Friday) and I am pleased with the results. I never use all products at once, except in the case of a special event, etc. I may go days at a time without using one of the cleansers.

I find that the combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid helps a lot. My routine usually combats the acne fairly quickly and size, etc is reduced overnight. However, the redness/marks remain for a while and it makes it look like I still have acne. I'm really not sure what to do about this... or the blackheads that won't go away (and trust me, I've tried just about everything for the blackheads).

I have very oily skin... especially during the summer months (wearing sunscreen on my face causes me to break out even more than usual). In the winter, it's not nearly as oily, but it still never gets dry/sensitive. I eat a relatively healthy diet (I am trying to lose weight), and I try my best to drink plenty of water or unsweetened tea a day. I know that drinking more water makes a difference in my acne, but so far it doesn't do much for the marks left behind. (I also have hair, skin, and nail vitamins that I frequently forget to take haha)

So, if anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Sounds like you have your acne under control….it is just the reddish marks left behind that are bothersome. Lactic chemical peels are known to help even out the skin tone. There are several different companies that have "at home" peels….I like Skin Laboratory’s products the most. The couple that I have tried were good, and they aren’t expensive which is a huge plus for me.

A Salicylic peel can help with oily skin and blackheads too.

    Best of luck…hope this helps!

  2. I recommand you to visit a dermatologue =)

  3. cosmedicine at sephora has a matte lotion, it controls the oils your body protrudes.
    use a moisturizer afterwards.
