Wash my face, don't wear foundation, on-the-spot treatment, STILL have acne! Why?
I've tried everything with my skin. I even went to a dermo but couldn't afford the pills (that weren't doing much anyway)
But I take fish oil tablets, I'll wash my face twice a day with Neotrogena wash, I use on-the-spot Benzoyal Peroxide treatment, and I moisturize with a special Clean and Clear acne fighting thing.
So why does my skin still suck lol
I've tried dozens of different combinations and brands, nothing seems to make any difference.
I'm 16 by the way

You will just grow out of it..everyone is different that way. I had that problem too, but Im 20 now and havent had a horrible problem with it since I was 17 or 18. But dont stop washing your face..and if you pop them, then STOP when it starts to bleed..I did NOT do that..and now instead of dealing with acne Im dealing with some scarring.
Besides that..tanning is good for acne..it helps clear your skin up..Drinking lots of water helps a bunch.
And I had a friend who used proactive..so maybe you could try it out too. its pretty inexpensive..20-25 dollars I think for the whole set. you just have to order it is all..so maybe you could just give the money to your mom and shed let you use her credit or debit card to order it or something.
also..wearing foundation isnt bad for your skin unless you leave it on overnight..as long as you regularly wash your face, dont be afraid to wear makeup because you think it will make your skin worse. if you have acne, foundation can really help make you feel better about yourself and how you look.
to the person who suggested the pill..keep in mind that there are also a lot of bad stuff that can come along with being on the pill too long, and starting at a young age..you should look into that before considering.

Isn;t it to do with hormones? are you a girl – your doctor could put you on the pill to regulate your hormones

All teeenagers go through acne.
July 14th, 2010 - 12:07
OK heres what i get from it. If its bad acne like big acne and not small zits, id get Zeno. its a little expensive but it works and it never runs out. its a small mchine the you shine on top of (not on) your acne and it uses heat to kill bacteria. your acne it says should be gone in 24 hours after using it. its proven to work and a lot of people use it. its a litle spendy but if it never runs out, works well, and can keep away your acne, i think its a good buy. search it on google or yahoo. again its called Zeno. hope this helps and good luck and all!

Hm….oily skin. That’s the only way you really get acne.
July 14th, 2010 - 12:07
go on the pill
July 14th, 2010 - 12:07
ive heard Cetaphil line of face washes works really well and also if you aren’t already ask your docter about the birth control pill which can help regulate and not make your acne so severe.

it sounds more to do with your hormones, but luckily as your taking care of your skin now it should look lovely when your a bit older and your hormones calm down
x hope this helps x

Don’t do the pills. My friend did it and he couldn’t be in the sun, and he got massive black heads, EVERYWHERE!!
Just deal with them, usually I put toothpaste on it at night.
Don’t get anything fancy. We all have different types of skin.

Sorry to tell you, but it’s a teenage thing. You’ll grow out of it. (or be old enough to afford a dermatologists treatment).
July 14th, 2010 - 12:07
Some people will always have acne unfortunately. You are a teenager and hormones have a lot to do with it. Even my mother still gets a pimple at that time of the month. What they can do if the antibiotics aren’t working is give you another antibiotic that might work better with clyndamiacin (sp?) to use topically at the same time. Good luck!

it sounds like you might be using too much stuff on your face. you cold be drying it out. make sure you use some kind of exfoliate like st ives aprocot scrub to wash off dead skin cells so they don’t end up in your pores cause with all that face washing and chemicals your bound to have some dry skin. try the clean and clear package they usually sell at walmart for like 20 bucks it’s called clean and clear advantage, it’s like purple and silver. it comes with the face wash which is tingly and feels pretty good, just don’t get in in your eyes. then it comes with the lotion and the spot treament, i know it’s sounds like what you are using already, but these are formulated to work together. i use it and it works great. my hubby used it for a zit he had right on his nose like 3 days before his birthday and it went away.

Drink more water.
I’ve started drinking more water, not much, but about 2 glasses a day and it’s helping. You should take vitamins.
Now, I do not moisturize because my skin is too oily and it does not cause more breakouts.
I wash my face at night w/ Walmart version of Neutrogena (same thing) and in the morning I wipe my face w/ a cotton pad soaked w/ Walmart brand astrigent. When washing your face do you use your hands? You should use a scrubby thing so you exfoliate your skin at the same time.
I tried Proactiv and it did not work.

unfortunately we’re girls and have hormones that like to drive us nuts with cramps and pms and acne. our constantly changing hormone levels cause acne outbreaks. most of the products out there only go so far, and you’re doing the right thing by keeping your face clean and moisturized. you could consider going on birth control, which will keep your hormone levels more fixed and constant, which helps with the acne. birth control is cheap too, whether or not you have insurance. try that out.
July 14th, 2010 - 12:07
try pro activ
and if youre a teen you have to live with it for about 3-4 years.. some people are just unlucky.. including me.. glad im done w/ that phase tho
my advice.. don’t worry about it the more you point it out the less confident you look.. people won’t view you and diff w/ acne just live w/ it for a while

First, the most important thing to have is patience. Especially when trying a new product, or routine…out.
I used to have a mild case of acne. I would use products like you are using (with benzoyl peroxide)…and powerful stuff like that, that’s really supposed to get the acne to go away. Buuut like for you, it didn’t work for me.
Then I visited a dermatologist…and she said to forget all the products I was using on my face, and use Cetaphil. It’s a veryyy mild, gentle cleanser. Has no medication in it, or anything. And well…guess what? It really helped. I also take medication, and use differin cream a night.
The thing is…she took a picture of my face when I first started visiting her, and a year later I was thinking…is this stuff she has me using actually working THAT well? Well…she showed me the picture and I could tell a HUGE difference.
See, it’s such a gradual process sometimes, you don’t even realize a product is working. So that’s why you definitely need patience.
I still would recommend going back to your dermatologist. The medicine I am on right now is name brand, and REALLY expensive. We wouldn’t be able to afford it if it weren’t for insurance helping pay, and the dermatologist giving us a rebate (all dermatolgists should have rebate cards, for multiple refills).
But if for some reason your dermatologist won’t give you one, she can put you on the generic version of the medicine. The only difference in it, are the dyes they use on the pills (for me, it made a difference…but it doesn’t for everyone).
Okay…maybe I’m just rambling on now. But seriously…Cetaphil face wash, you get a big bottle…for a little price. You can get it at any drugstore. If you must use face lotion, use their’s as well (the oil-free one). It won’t clog pores and it has SPF 15.
PS.
Drinking lots of water is always good for the skin! It really does make a difference, as well.
Good luck!

I forgot to add, you should wash your face 2 times a day. Once in the morning, once at night.

It’s just a natural part of Growing Up. You could Try honey masks, and Facial Herb masks. Natural Sutff is Much Better For your Skin. Don’t Use so many different Products. Stick to ONE of those. So many products interacting in your skin Can cancel Each other out. Try A honeymask once a Every 3 days, Wash your face Everynight with ONE Brand. Make sure you Get all the dirt, so use the Face washer, 1-2 times a night, making sure its all clean, use A cutip and the Toner, to get the dirt out of the Hard-to-reach places, And Finally Put A good Cleansing Mask on. Rember all of this is The same Brand. in the mornings, dont use All this. Just Take a Stridex pad ($5 at Target) and Wipe it on your face, its Basically a Acid that kills Dirt. But Rember It’s a natural Part.

ok so first of all, get a small cloth or something. Put hot water on it and drain the water out of it. Put it over your face for maybe 30 seconds. This opens your pours. Take off the cloth and wash your face with whatever you use, so now when you wash your face, your getting your oil out. If that doesnt work here is a website with other tips. It has a TON of ideas & tips.
