Treatment for Benzoyl Peroxide Allergy?

I been using Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% for 7 days. I can't help but say it really does clear my Acne, but i had alot of dryness and itchiness. Today i woke up with alot of redness, face looks abit puffy, lumpy and terrible itchiness. Do you think i am allergic to it? And is there any home remedies for it? Do i need to see a GP or a dermatologist? In the meantime i am taking anti-histamines and putting a cool towel on my face but to no effect.

  1. I would advise you to stop using the benzoyl peroxide immediately b/c ur skin is having such a negative reaction. Benzoyl peroxide is a very harsh ingredient, I learned the hard way not to use it on my skin- it made my skin splotchy and left behind a deep scar that I can never get rid of. Plus I had a lot of the same symptoms as u like itchiness, redness, and swelling. If I were you i would stop the treatment asap and try salicylic acid instead which is also effective but not as harsh as BP.

    I hope this helps! : )
