proactive not working!?
i been using proactiv solution for about 2 months now.. my face has many breakouts but for some reason i think proactiv made it worse. about a month ago i switched from the original solution to the extra strength proactiv and still im not seeing my face clear up but stay the same and sometimes gets worse. does anyone have any suggestions that can give me immediate and effective treatment for my acne.

Proactiv made my skin worse too – I eventually saw a dermatologist, and she said for some people the strong ingredients in proactiv only irritate their skin and make it produce more oil. Now I use really gentle facial cleansers, topical prescriptions (Duac in AM, Differin in PM) and take oral antibiotics, and my skin is very clear now. Try using a non-medicated cleanser (I love Neutrogena’s Fresh Foaming Face Wash) and if you still use a medicated lotion or toner or anything, be sure to use a non-medicated and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) moisturizer to help prevent irritation. And it also sounds like you would really benefit from seeing a dermatologist.

proaciv is stupid, stop wasting your money.
also, the benzoyl peroxide or whatever will age your skin faster.
it takes away your natural spf.

I had the same problem that you do.
I just switched back to my old regimen.

Murad is the best. It’s more expensive, but it’s worth it.

I am also using proactiv (the 5 step system) see what it does is brings out oall the dirt from your skin leading to breakouts and pimples. but once all the dirt comes out you will have clear skin..so they say… i have been using it for a month and a half maybe my skin is gradually getting better. at first it was bad like pimples everywhere…dont pick at it…that spreads dirt and oils. but just stick to the system i guess im sure it will work better soon GOOD LUCK! Acne is a pain!
and nothing is immediate if its going to work for the long run…u have to go with something that takes time…

Proactive is VERY misleading. It’s really bad for your skin. I would say get higher end skin products. The leading drugstore brand is cheaper but in the long run the more expensive ones will make your skin healthier and clearer.
Clinique and Clarins products work really well for me.
Also limit your makeup use on the weekends or when your not going anywhere where makeup is a necessity. Makeup clogs your pores and gives you more acne.
Also limit greasy foods in your diet. It will also make a huge difference.
Hope I helped! XO~A

Proactive doesn’t work for me either,
I bought acne free spot treatment(from walmart) and used it along with the proactive -face wash- and that cleared my skin up in about a week

I’m no dermatologist, but usually, things do get worse before they get better. At any rate, if you really aren’t seeing any results at all, and things just get progressively worse, see a dermatologist about pills and prescription medicine instead. Seeing as how, not everyone’s skin is the same, proactiv doesn’t work for everbody, so if you have the patience give it another month, if you’re fed up with the situation, talk to a dermatologist.

I’ve heard that it doesn’t work for many people. I’ve been using it for nearly 3 weeks and i have already seen improvement. I use each thing that came with the package every night and use the concentrations that the instructions say to. So that’s my proactiv story.

proactiv really doesn’t work
see if you can find a product with RETIN-A in it, maybe they sell it in your area without prescription,
don’t stress out about it, that only makes acne worse
if it starts getting bad, then i suggest you go see a dermatologist before it gets worse

PanOxyl is a terrific way to clear up your face. I’ve been using it for about a year now and I’ve yet to see one zit.

It took me about 4 months of using Proactiv for my face to clear up entirely. To be honest, Proactiv doesn’t work for everyone. You should see a dermatologist before committing to a skin care product that is targeted only at certain skin types, especially when it is expensive!

Proactive doesn’t work! well, it didn’t for me. I used to have bad skin, but then i went to a dermatologist he told me to use this stuff called Benzoyl Peroxide. its really good, and now my skin is clear. But the best thing is to go to a dermatologist cause everyone is different.
hope i helped.

My husband also used proactive for a while and did not work and i also know other people that have used it and has not worked for them,my husband is 22 and has tried so many products like epaclear, proactive, arbonne, mary kay and so many more but nothing worked, finally he just went to see the doctor does not have to be a skin specialist or anything just a regular family doctor and they prescribed him some pills to clear the acne but for only 2 weeks and they gave him some cream to use every night and that is taking care of his acne. you might want to make an appointment with your doctor sometimes it works better that everything else out there.
