Nothing I do gets rid of my acne. How can I control it?
I have never had a problem with acne before, but recently, it became extremely bad, especially on the sides of my face. I don't get deep acne, but rather, hundreds of little whiteheads. And every day, I seem to get more and more. I also think I am beginning to get acne scars on the sides of my face.
I cannot figure out why I'm suddenly having such horrible acne. My mom thinks it's because I wear liquid cover up every day and she says that all liquid cover ups clog your pores. Is this true? Do you think if I stopped wearing liquid cover up, my acne might reduce? I'm also a teen, and my hormones, I know, are out of control right now. (Having a lot of "girl" problems because of hormones too.)
I don't know what to do. I've tried many acne treatments. No over the counter treatments (Clearasil, Proactive, etc) work for me. Then I tried Differin. I had a horrible reaction which resulted in me spending half the night with my face under the faucet. I'm now using Benzaclin, which mildly reduces my acne but not nearly as much as it should.
Should I see a dermatologist? The only thing is, I don't know what they can do to help me.... Because I've already tried almost every acne treatment. My doctor said that a dermatologist could prescribe be antibiotics for acne, but it might cause yeast infections and there's NO WAY I am taking that chance. She also suggested birth control, however, my mom won't let me go on it, and I understand, because I have read about birth control being linked to cancer.
Please help!!

Try using a clay mask to control the oil. Then, use lemons when you have an outbreak. Dab the juice directly on the out break with a cotton tip. Open the pores first with steam. You might also try a body cleanse. A lot of times acne is the result of a build up of toxins. Eat only green vegetables, egg whites and drink 8 glasses of water for 3 days. After Day 3, add fish. After Day 5, add whole grains.

Aloe and witch hazel. They sell it in stores. Make sure it is only natural aloe and witch hazel, NOTHING ELSE.
This worked for a man I knew, had horrible acne, nothing worked. I told a friend of his to tell him, get a juice extractor, and juice apples twice a day, or even more often. Next time I saw his friend, she told me he was cured of the acne. No kidding.

Differin it slow in treating acne, that’s what my dermatologist said. I think your best bet is really to see a dermatologist. They know what to do with your problem more than anyone else. I don’t know about antibiotics causing yeast infection, never heard of that. But I did tried Tetracycline before. It didn’t treat my acne though.
Looks like all the topical treatments you tried are over the counter. Dermatologists can prescribe you with prescription strenght products. I’m currently taking Accutane to treat my acne, my doctor said it’ll also lessen black and white heads and bacne. I also bought some Obagi products and it was effective! Imagine, I just applied a skin peeling cream last night, this morning, my cheeks peeled a little already! It may cost expensive buying products from a dermatologist, but at least it works. it’s better than buying and testing a lot of cheaper products that doesn’t actually help, only wastes your money
