My skin is terrible, I've tried everything; any advice?
I am 18 and my skin is very damaged. I do have acne, but it's not severe. The problem is the redness, inflammation, unevenness, dryness, ect. I can't leave the house without wearing makeup and I would love to have porcelin skin.
My routine is:
AM: Shower and exfoliate with Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliant. Then, I moisturize with Neutrogena's Oil Free Moisturizer and prime my face with Smashbox's Primer.
PM: I cleanse my face with Proactiv or Neutrogena's acne wash and use a spot treatment.
Nothing has ever helped. And I'm desperate.

I have a problem with some inflammation as well. What I do to help is use a gentle cleanser when I wake up, and then maybe 1-2 times throughout the day, and then again before I go to bed. Also, try to drink a lot of water and take vitamins (fish oil pills are good) – they have nutrients which are great for your skin. I hope this helps! :)

You’re using a lot of strong products. Ever consider the fact that you have sensitive skin and are causing the problems yourself?

Read the warning labels.
It says not to mix them.

I see, well do you wash your face everyday, sometimes it takes time for the water from the shower to actually work on your dryness depending on how dry it is, oily uh… there’s this cream called Neutrogena’s Fresh Foaming Cleanser to get rid of the dirt in your face ( my brother uses it ) but that’s all I have sorry :(

Heyy!
Hunn you dont actually think that Neuotrogena works,do you?
Its a complete waste of time and effort, just beacus it was "AS SHOWN ON TV"
Doesnt mean it works.
Use natural products.
I suggest a clinuqe item.
My skin is preety soft, but just to make it ge a shine and thickness, I use clinque rinse off & They clinque body cream.
& Philosophy works great also.
Use good products that have never been seen on tv beacuse the ones that have aired on tv are the worthless ones that need people buying the item.
Also your only 18 right now , your skin will clear up(if you dont touch it much)

I would say that you should go see a dermatologist and see if they can help. Your routine sounds like you are cleaning your face at the right times, maybe using so many products is drying your face out. Good luck and I hope it gets better!

It could be lots of things. Your make-up, the detergent used to wash your clothes, the shampoo/conditioner you use, having a dirty pillowcase, using dirty make-up sponges, touching your face a lot or even sweating a lot. You could have something like rosacea also. Also maybe you shouldn’t exfoliate everyday, maybe like 3 times a week. It could be irritating your skin. Additionally, using a lot of acne medications can over dry your face. You should probably see a dermatologist.

You can try more natural things, without chemicals and stuff. Things like aloe vera for inflammation and redness. Tomatoes (the juice of it), potatoe slices, organic honey, and milk may help as well. Try using them for a period of time to see results.
