I've suddenly gotten really bad acne?

I used to get a couple a month, but for the past two months i've been getting tons of acne between my eyebrows, on my forehead, and chin. I don't wear foundations or powder.
My skin gets really dry in the winter, but it's also sort of oily like it is in the summer.

Nothing works. I've used acne spot treatment, acne cleanser, scrubs, masks. The things that used to work for me, no longer do.

Do you have any cheap suggestions for me?
I'm currently using:
clean and clear advantage 8 hour spot treatment, st.ives green tea cleanser, st helens acne mask, and i used vasaline on my cheekes, and clean and clear dual action mosturizer on my acne prone areas.

I'm fed up with acne.
*vasaline lotion.

  1. All of the products you lists either contain fragrance and other irritants such as menthol, peppermint, camphor, eucalytus, etc. These irritants can, in theory, irritate the oil glands –> more oil –> more acne. Stop using the mask, it is hyped up and only purpose reasonable is to pamper you. Masks contain absorbent that soak up oils, which could surely dry our your skin. The Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer does not work. The problem now is that I have no idea what your skin type is, Oily or combination or dry with acne prone. I will assume you have combination skin type. If you are not sure, take the questionnaire (source). You need a combination approach. If you have dry patches, use a well-formulated moisturizer such as fragrance/irritant-free CeraVe Hydrating Lotion.

    – Cleansers – removes dirty, oil, makeup, dead skin cells and any other residuals built up over time
Boots Expert Anti-Blemish Cleansing Foam OR Olay Foaming Face Wash, Sensitive OR CeraVe Foaming Cleanser is great options. All three contain no fragrance or colorant (nFoC).

    – Exfoliant – Unglues dead skin cell | stimulate collagen over time | even out skin tone
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment with 2% salicylic acid (SA; pH ~ 3.4). This product does contain fragrance and coloring additives, but they are in minute amounts. If you have sensitivity to those ingredients, then try Paula’s Choice 2% beta hydroxy acid “gel” or “liquid” version (pH 3.2-6); either one is good. SA acts as a triple threat: an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and an oil-soluble exfoliant. Its solubility allows it to exfoliate the pore lining to dislodge any clog to permit a better flow of oil. If you are allergic to aspirin, then avoid SA. Your alternative is a glycolic acid or lactic acid-based product such as Paula’s Choice 8% Alpha Hydrox Acid with glycolic acid (pH f 3.5-8) with nFoC. If you have sensitivity to any acids, you probably want to stick with a physical scrub such as Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Scrub with round polyethylene beads as the scrubbing agent. The efficacy of exfoliation of scrubs is not on par with chemical exfoliation. But before you go for the scrub, try ease up the application of chemical exfoliant if you have low tolerance for it at first. For example, try to apply it every other night, or every third night, or once a week and gradually increase application frequency. Or, you can apply the chemical exfoliant for 5-10 minutes and rinse it off; do this for a week and increase leave-on application as you achieve higher tolerance for the acid.

    – Acne Medication – oxidizing agent that destroy acne bacteria
Benzoyl peroxide (BP) is the gold-standard acne treatment. The FDA and declared it to be safe and effective. Acne bacteria cannot develop resistance to benzoyl peroxide. Research has shown that a 2.5% BP is just as effective as 5% or 10% BP without the irritation (peeling, burning, redness, etc). However, if your skin has a more aggressive form of acne, you may just want to try a higher concentration of BP. If you prefer an organized system that takes the guess work out for you, then try Proactiv. Acne.org also offers a system and it is cheaper because you get for product per dollar. The drugstore has a few good options. Oxy Clinical Clearing Treatment has 5% BP while Clean and Clear Persa-Gel contain 10% BP. If you have sensitive to BP, an alternative may be sulfur-containing product such as Clearasil Adult Acne Treatment Cream, Tinted with 8% sulfur and 2% resorcinol; however, this product can be “strong” so do a patch test to be on the safe side. If you have tolerance issue, try the methods I proposed above in the exfoliant section.

    – Sunscreen – UV protection
Sunscreen is absolutely important for any skin type. UVB can aggravate acne. Neutrogena Age Shield SPF 55 has nFoC. If you are very oil, then try Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock SPF 55 (low amount of fragrance); its liquid consistency and mineral silica leave a matte finish. The duration of the matte effect depends how active your oil glands are, so you may want to blot throughout the day ( a tissue paper is just fine). If you have sensitivity to synthetic sunscreen agent, then your alternative has to be sun product with just titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide. They provide board-spectrum product with high safety profile and almost no irritation potential because of their inert nature. Neutrogena Pure & Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 with 5% titanium dioxide and 3% zinc oxide has nFoC.

Result may take at least 2 months w/ PATIENCE & COMPLIANCE. If your acne persists and is non-responsive to these methods, then consult with a board-certified dermatologist for prescriptions such as Retin-A Micro OR Tazorac OR Differin OR even accutane (isotretinoin). Isotretinoin shrinks oil glands –> no more oil –> no more acne or blackheads.

    Best wishes

  2. okay well im 15 and i know how you feel what i usually use is get sum backing soda and then sprinkle the lemon on the baking soda ill fiz and put that on your face and rub it around it always gets rid of my zits pimples and blackheads

  3. I heard something that works really great to get rid of acne and take makeup of real well I heard that olive oil works really good my friend said she used it and it took away the acne on her forehead she looks great so u should give it a try but don’t improvise

  4. Oxy Daily Cleaning Pads.

  5. I was there, in your situation. I had bad acne starting when I was 13. I tried Clean and Clear, Proactiv, Neutrogena. NOTHING WORKED. Your skin may be different, I suggest you try those brands (although they’re not really that cheap) just in case they work on you.

However, despite the ineffectiveness of aforementioned products I got rid of my acne completely. I’m sixteen and I don’t have zits. Occasionally, I’ll get a couple, but overall I’m clear.

Now, this is a neither cheap nor easy method that I’m about to suggest.

It’s not popular either. Some (rather uninformed) people will even say that it’s a dangerous approach.

You’ll also need a dermatologist to do it.

    Accutane.

    It works people.

It’s a really harsh drug that you must take for several months. It gives you dry skin and you have to take pregnancy tests (to make sure you’re not pregnant, because it causes birth defects).

    But it works. Completely.

That all sucks, right? But does it suck more then rampant acne?

    I don’t think so.

Good luck in your quest against zits. I hope you don’t have to go on Accutane, it’s a pain in the butt. But if nothing else works like in my case, Accutane will work.

    Help me?

  6. Awww Hun I had the same problem. Proactive and oxy stuff burnt my skin. And most of the expensive skin care lines are all the same ingredients as the drug store stuff!

This is what I finally found that worked:
Wash with African Black soap- I got mine from amazon, the one with shea butter in it.
Toner- I use plain ole witch hazel. It’s cheap, natural and found in the pharmacy.
Moisturizer- I use pure jojoba oil. Just a few drops.
Makeup- I use the Valley Girl foundation from L.A. Minerals. It soaks up oil, and has Allantoin to heal acne. I use a lot of their makeup cuz it’s natural and doesn’t irritate my skin.
For my T zone I put L.A.s Oil Control powder on. Soaks up oil for hours!

    Hope this helps.

  7. There were totally 15 moles / black spots on my face and body before, I tried this mole remover and most of my moles were gone right now. But please pay attention, don’t over use in order to avoid getting scar. Hope it works for you too.

For more information, please see the following using methods, it is very useful for unwanted moles, beauty marks, black spots.

BRAND NEW DIY MOLE VANISH WART REMOVER
10 ML Skin Care non-Laser Removal

    Usage:
    (1) Clean the nevus and the area around it, use a toothpick (do not use a cotton stick to tip or wipe) to mix the liquid and sediment, and then tip a little amount of the mole remover and apply it onto the middle of the nevus. The area would turn to white colour after 1 minute. Use alcohol or water to clean the mole area after 10 minutes (If you tip the amount of mole remover properly, you don’t have to clean). The mole would peel off (May help with finger) in 8 to 20 days. Repeat the process again until the mole peeling off if the colour of the nevus is dark. (it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON’T TRY on FACE for the first time!)
