Im 18 & i have acne & its getting worse. i have it on my face, chest, back, neck, shoulders..etc..?

& it seems really hard to keep under control like its difficult to keep putting my topicals on everywhere. Should i just start on accutane? my acne is getting worse & its leaving scars. will accutane cure my acne? and if i go to the dermatologist can i just ask to be put on it? thanks.
I've tried oral medicines, proactiv, murad, differin, retin-a, and they helped somewhat...but how can i keep putting proactive and all that stuff on my back? lol 3 steps on my back everyday? umm yeah thats a tad difficult! haha

  1. I was on acutane for a while in middle school. It really works wonders but the side effects were worse than acne. I was depressed a lot and I started getting REALLY dry skin. SOOO I had to go back to the doctor and get a 2nd medicine to combat the dry skin and I was still depressed. My advice. don’t waste money and time on acutane. See if you can get something else that’s less potent.

  2. Proactiv is the answer. No lie. The mistake people make when using proactiv is that they only give it a couple days to work. If you use it for 2 weeks, it clears up your acne for good!!! I promise.

  3. just see what the derm suggests. i was actually put on birth control (yaz) by my derm and it fights acne as well as pregnancy lol. and it completely cleared it up. good luck!

  4. Try Black Soap Elixir body wash and the black soap face wash from SheaTerraOrganics.com This stuff really works!

  5. EXFOLIATE. Get a body scrub.

  6. I have the same problem, only that I have acne only on my back…not on my face, chest…etc. But I DO get gross pimples on my face and chest rarely…it’s pretty disgusting. My back is horrible too…full of scars and pimples. Try washing you face every day with acne control face wash and when you take showers or baths, gently scrub the other affected areas. If your acne is that bad, go to a dermatologist =]
    good luck!

  7. If your not on birth control already.. get on it.
accutane has some side effects like depression.

  8. Do you have oily skin? You should see a dermitologist. Or, just use a toner, they work great, see the poors are shaped like the letter J but tilted a little (imagine this) and after one day there is dirt build up in your pores, because they are open, no matter what goes on that day there is always dirt build up. so You wash your face every day, right? ok so it cleans you poor.. right? ok well no, not all the way ther is still some dirt bild up in your poors, thats why you get zits and black heads, the only logical way to get them out is using a toner because the toner goes all the way into your poors and cleans them all the way out. That should help a ton! plus make sure to use a good (for your face only) lotion, yes it may cost more than some but it is worth it. Try not wearing any foundation, if you do use a mineral foundation and clean it off well, liquid foundation is THE WORST for your skin. Good luck:)

  9. since your acne is body acne and not just on your face, a simple exfoliant is not gonna do anything. go to your derm. and ask about accutane. my sister had A LOT on her back and face, went on accutane and it cleared up in about 6 months. the only thing that sucks is you have to get blood test every month to make sure your not preggo and do an online test to make sure you know the rules and symptoms. i really reccommend it though. it’s worth it!

    :)
