I need advice on a skin care routine?

over the past few weeks i've been breaking out like crazy. every day i would wake up with a new surprise on my face, either a big white head or a deep pimple that would hurt. i have scarring from alot of the pimples now and it is very severe on my chin. since the beginning of this year i've used olay clarify & cleanse daily scrub.. i guess it stopped working..? i dont know. i went to the drug store yesterday and got 4 new products and wanted some advice on a good routine. i'm not sure what to try or if i should use 2 at night.. or what. i purchased clean & clear morning burst, ( i will probably use this in the morning every day ), neutrogena deep clean relaxing nightly cleanser, neutrogena oil free acne stress control power clear scrub, and st. ives apricot scrub. any tips on what to use and maybe a routine i can use daily? any advice would be greatly appreciated. :) thank you !

  1. Okay so your doing alot of things wrong.
Your skin gets used to the miracles of spot treatments the more that you use the same one,so now your skin is used to the vitamins and spot fighting ingredients of Olay Clarify & Cleanse Daily Scrub.
    Which isnt a problem :)

If you say that your having problem with your skin, you need to reduce the amount of products that you use, because this will cause more harm.
So you need to stick to something more natural. I highly recommend something called an aspirin mask, its cheap yet so effective.
You need aspirin and honey. Aspirin contains salicylic acid also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) which is an amazing spot fighting ingredient.
However i recommend you use the clean & clear morning burst each morning and twice a week, after using the clean & clear morning burst scrub, apply an aspirin mask. If you start to see results, reduce the amount you use both remedies. You will need to buy a moisturiser,as using products takes out the natural oils from your skin, meaning you will get dryness. Look for one with an SPF of 15 or above,as this will benefit sun protection on your face.

This link will tell you the benefits of the aspirin mask & how to make it:

    Good Luck & Stay Beautiful

  2. Important- 1-Always use a clean dry towel to dry your face.
2-Get lots of fresh air, go for walks, run or just stay outside for awhile.
    3-Don’t waste your money.

  3. I use proactiv. Even if my face looks like a warzone it only takes about 3 days for it to be completly gone. after the first day i already begin to see results. It works like a charm.

  4. Hey Holly, I’ve dealt with acne through highschool and scarring and such so what i strongly recomend is not ripping the natural oils out of your skin with harsh chemicals but try something less harsh for "sensitive skin" such as cleansing milks for your skin, using a sea sponge instead of a face towel (more gentle/better exfoliator), and just being as gentle with your skin as possible and keeping HYDRATED= drink WATER! after washing your face with a gentle milk cleanser for sensitive skin use a toner for allowing moisture absorption into your face with a cotton pad then moisturizing with a non greasy moisturizer, something that feels silky smoothe on your face :)
What i notice is the gentler I am to my skin the better it is, also birth control works like a charm! Also applying an antibiotical cream (ozonol/ polysporin) to specific areas on popped pimples or rising pimples at night helps 1) keep out bacteria preventing further infection and 2) helps the skin cells repair themselves faster in the moisture dense cream. Be kind to your skin and it shall be kind to you :)
ps- a tip i have for you if you find your t-zone to be oily when you wake up in the morning (forehead, around the noise, and chin) leave a fan on at night! kinda directing towards your face, I just find this keeps my skin from perspiring and any risk of overnight pimple creating! Cheers!

  5. I would start with just one in the morning [probably clean&clear] and one at night [neutrogena relaxing night cleanser]. After a week or so if your skin is not irritated by those products, then add in the scrubs. But only use one a day and only every other day like Monday use a scrub at night, Tuesday no scrub, Wednesday scrub. You can use them less often but don’t use them more than every other day- too much exfoliating can irritate/overdry your skin and might make breakouts worse especially if you already have pimples on your skin.
Also you might want to get spot treatment of some kind. That can help when you get a really bad or deep pimple, they go away faster and don’t leave such bad marks. Oh and make sure you wear a good oil free moisturizer with sunscreen in daytime. Most acne products make your skin more sensitive to sun damage, plus its just a good idea anyways:)
