Help!!! what choice would u make…?

Ok well i have alright skin but breakouts on the sides and jawline but it has been clearing up with treatment from the doctors fro about 6 months. I am 13 (14 in february) and i have been asked by the doctor if i want to try isotretinion which is a harsh acne treatment with side effects -

minor hair loss
reaelly dry skin
blood noses
dry eyes
possibly depression
and a whole heap more!! im really concerned and worried as now is a stressful time for me

So i can continue using my old treatment which can apparently still improve or risk using the next treatment which lasts 3-6 months which are described as horrible by many people but apparently effective. I dont know wheather to risk the extra stress as it might be too much for me right now or continue with my old treatment and try the new one some other time. What would you do?

  1. Isotretinoin is very effective for most people, but it has a number of possible side effects. It should be reserved for acne that is severe, scarring or unresponsive to conservative therapy. You are young and there is the expectation that your acne will go away one day. If your current therapy is adequate, meaning you are happy with it even if you still have a few pimples; you have concerns regarding the isotretinoin; and not having scarring, then continuing your current therapy is reasonable. The benefits of the treatment have to outweigh the risks.

  2. i wouldnt do the new treatment, can i ask what u were using now? and do products like clean and clear work for u?

personally i use clean and clear for 6 years now and its great. i use the foam face wash in the shower to clean my face, remove make up eye makeup too, and then i use CLEAN AND CLEAR DEEP ACTION EXFOLIATING SCRUB -this one if its bad breakouts i use it DRY -not wetting face or hands- and the rinse and wipe off w warm not hot water if its little breakouts or nothing really bad i use it in the shower. and then last, apply CLEAN AND CLEAR ADVANTAGE ACNE CONTROL MOISTURIZER

and trust me i didnt jus "walk in a store and choose a acne wash"
    i really spent time deciding.

the first one is good bcuz we r already suppose to wash our faces everyday, especially us girls.
not only does it CLEAN AND REMOVE dirt, oil, make up or whatever its a clean and clear product which means its naturally fighting acne already. u can c by jus reading the labels.

the 2nd – exfoliating scrub gently exfoliates deep pores

3rd-is lotion and oil free ALSO acne control moisturizer.- my only wish was that clean and clear face lotion product would contain SPF

    i HIGHLY recommend these products.

    doesnt hurt to try…

  3. With every medication there is alsways side effects
its up to you to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages
In this case, i find that i would choose to continue the old treatment, if its working and gradually fixing your skin then keep with it. If the old one your using stops working then consider switching to the new one. Also talk to your parents about this and see what they think, they will certainly be able to help you make your decision.
