help i dont know what to do please?

Please help!

Im 17 and have had acne since i was about 13...Ive tried everything, most oral antibiotics and different creams and have also been to a dermatologist several times. I have also been on the pill dianette for over a year which has helped my acne a bit but not any more than all the other treatments have worked.

Basically, while certain antibiotics have been good at clearing the actual spots around my forehead and nose up, when I come off these the spots start to come back. I was on lymecycline recently and that cleared all my spots up but I came off it about a month ago and they are starting to come back.

The main thing is though, its not r4eally the spots that bother me because i don’t really have very many of them. My chin, and areas around my nose are just really inflamed and red (I find in natural light and outside this does not look so bad and my skin actually looks quite clear, but in bright lighting my skin looks really really disgusting and red and inflamed.) I think I got this type of acne on my chin when I was about 14 as before that my acne was just spots.

At first I thought this inflammation was scarring but the dermatologist has said my acnes not scarring so I don’t know what else it could be, as I have never seen anyone with this type of acne as everyone else just seems to have spots and I don’t know what type of acne mine is called? I thought it might me acne rosacea, which I have heard of, but the dermatologists would have identified this ?

Anyway, I have tried everything for my skin and its really getting me down as I desperately want clear skin and I done know what to do. The doctors said the only thing left for me to try is roaccutane (the dermatologist put me on the cream version of roaccutane called differein cream before as they said it would have the same benefits for me, but without the side effects...but this hasn’t worked)....but they also said my acne isn’t severe enough to use this, and also its got really bad side effects. But they say this is the only thing left for me to try which really scares me because what if that doesn’t even work?

Anyway, this is really getting me down and does anyone have any advice on this please? Id really appreciate it...

Thankyou,

Jen xxxx

  1. no no no proactive is ammmmazzzing! it works like overnight i swear …or it did for me :)

  2. have you tried pro-active?? i havent but on tv is shows really bad acne ppl clearing up thier faces really nicely.

  3. change dermatologist.or just wait

  4. I was in the same situation. I had really bad acne when I was 17 and 18. It better now. I was on proactive and It did work. But it stopped working. I wish I had a miracle cure so that I could tell you whats better. One thing I know for sure, is that certain foods aggravate acne. I AVOID milk and milk products. They are the worst for me. Pay attentionto what you eat, and really concentrate on your goal. I have dry skin and over a month ago, I purchased this antibacterial soap, ‘cuticura’ and it has really helped me. This is not advertising or anything like that. I purchased it at walgreens and it has kept the bactiria away from my face. I still get one or two pimples ocasianally, but I treat them with tea tree oil. I swear tea tree oil is the best. I started using it about a month ago too..so eather cuticura, or the tea trea oil has really worked for me. I now have the ugly brown spots to deal with, but I hide him with make up. I have read alot about how to get rid of them, and I think it’s better to treat them when the acne is completely inactive, because most scart treatments contain ingreadients that can clog pores…

EDIT: IF YOU DO DECIDE TO USE THE SOAP AND THE TEA TREE OIL, I RECOMEND YOU TO USE A MOISTURIZER, OIL-FREE AND NON COMODOGENIC, CURRENTLY I USE BIORE( THERE ARE ALWAYS OTHER GOOD OPTIONS, LET ME KNOW!), BUT I ONLY USE IT IN THE MORNING, AFTER I WAS MY FACE WITH CUTIRUA. AT NIGHT, I WAS MY FACE AGAIN, AND I PUT TEA TREE OIL ON ANY SPOTS, SPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVEN’T EVEN SHOWED UP (YOU FEEL THEM) BUT MY FACE FEEL REALLY DRY, BUT I DON’T CARE BECAUSE MY FACE LOOKS CLEAR, AND I MOISTURIZE IT IN THE MORNING…AND SOMETIMES AT NIGHT WHEN IT FEEL MY SKIN REALLY DRY.

  5. DONT EVER USE PROACTIVE!! I tried and it made my acne worse!!! All it does is dry your skin out… here some thing you can do

Wash your face every night and morning, dont forget the lotion!!

This is the most uncomfortable thing ever but it works so well!!! Sleep in a honey and cinnamon mixture on your face. Use old bedding and clothes because everything gets sticky. But it works soooooo well!

    Rose water
