Does soap negatively affect acne on my chest?

At 17, I still have a small amount of pimples generating on my upper chest. I wash my whole body with soap, but I wash my face with a proper face wash. I use some of the face wash on the chest-acne as well, but I wash them with soap, too. Does the soap do damage to my upper chest area like soap would do to my face if I had to use on my face (I know soap on my face is a big no-no)?

Should I try keep soap off my infected chest area or does the soap actually help clean it? So all in all: yay or nay?

  1. Acne is fairly common on the back and chest during teen age as well as in young adults. Similarly girls are sometimes affected by acne on the breasts and in the cleavage area. Soap does not have any significant role in worsening acne on the chest except that it cleans the skin.

  2. it must -ask your dermatologist for a better product.

  3. You should try Aveeno body wash. It is a lot gentler then soap. Soap can irritate the area further as it is pretty harsh & the added fragrance does not help.

Aveeno will help soothe & heal pimples on your chest.

  4. Checking with a dermatologist is the best answer so I’ll have to defer to the reply above. Facial soap should not bother your chest however. Have you tried an antibiotic soap on your chest? If it does not clear, then it might be a different problem than simple acne in which case, yes, see your health care provider or a dermatologist. Good luck!
