Can you take Doxycyline for strep throat? I’m allergic to amoxicillin, and the erythromycin didn’t work.?

I've never had a doctor prescribe Doxycycline for strep throat / sinus infection before until today. Usually erythromycin is the antibiotic medication of choice after amoxicillin. Have you ever taken Doxycycline? I thought it was just for acne treatment...Will it work for strep?

  1. Doxycycline is belong to tetracycline antibiotic and has effect on some streptococcus infection;strep throat and sinusitis but not the first choice If it not work why don’t ask your doctor prescribe other group of antibiotic such as cipal or levaquin. If still not work then do the culture and sensitivity test and find out which antibiotic work and also not allergic to you.
