Best treatment for acne?
I am 21 years old and have had acne since i was about 15. Nothing has worked permanantly. Ive tried doxycycline and minocycline (they work but it returns right when im done) tazorac, and just about everything else my dermatologist prescribed. Is there anything else i can try? I would love to try accutane but it recently went off the market. whats the 2nd best option? please help! i am miserable!!!!

Avoid junk food and soda pops.
Eat vegetables for snacks.
Rub a small amount of baking soda with a cloth on the face and then wash away.
If pimples persist – use salus spray to wipe or gently scrub the spots. I get it on ebay every other month or so and it works remarkably well.

Hi there!
I am 27 and been plagued with it since I was 14! :o(
Unlike you I have actually had 2 courses or Accutane! The first worked like a dream and it stayed away for 2 years then cam back with a vengeance. The 2nd course made me clincally depressed and did nothing for my skin except dry it out to the point my lips all cracked and became infected, so it does not surprise me that they have taken it back off the market.
You do not say whether you are male or female, which would greatly influence the treatment options available. I am female and have PCOS, so my acne is hormonal, which is why the Accutane only lasts so long :o(
If you are female then I would recommend taking Dianette, the contraceptive pill, along with application or either Zineryt or Retin-A topical lotions. For me the oral anti-biotics did not work, they just messed my body up.
If you are male then I would still try the Zineryt or Retin-A – obviously don’t start taking the birth control pill otherwise acne will not be the only lumps you will have to worry about! ;o)
I would try the Zineryt first as I find it slightly less harsh than the Retin-A – both work very well although you don’t see any major improvement for 4 weeks.
Just as a side note I have heard that they are trying to develop a topical form of Accutane, that clears you up without all of the horrid side effects of the tablets! I know what I will be asking Santa for!
