Any Aestheticians??? I need to know about High Frequency Facial Equipment usage for treating acne?

Okay...so i have cystic acne and the 1 thing that actually worked on my skin when I received a facial was the high frequency machine. I bit the bullet and bought a high-end spa device that is the identical device that my aesthetician uses on me to treat acne using high frequency.
she put a salicylic serum on my face prior to using high frequency. she told me that the combination of the serum with high frequency would help to further penetrate the salicylic serum.
I am just confused because i thought that this device should not be used in conjunction with alcohol based products.
Can you let me know what is classified as a safe serum to put on my face (that will help my cystic acne) prior to using the high frequency device. I want to use a serum in conjunction with the treatment!
Please give me proper instructions for the most effective treatment( inclusing best serums to use with this device during treatment).... including how often i should to it!
THANKS

  1. Hello,

I’ve been an esthetician since 1996, fyi. I use the HF after extractions and before the mask. I would recommend that you get some facial gauze at a beauty supply store. It usually comes in packs of about 200 pieces, folded in 4" X 4" squares. Unfold a sheet of gauze and place it on your skin. With that in between the HF head and your skin, you will have a very easy slip and can glide all over your face without the use of a serum. High Frequency treatments are anti-bacterial. They do not help products penetrate the skin more than a tiny bit. Galvanic machines are used for deep product penetration. Instead of wasting lots of expensive serum using it to gain slip for your HF head, use it after your treatment. When I was a new estethician, I was also trained with the serum method. The only purpose for it with use in a HF treatment is to get the glide factor. I discovered the gauze method on my own after years of bumbling through services with serums that need to be reapplied again and again during the course of a two minute HF treatment.

Here is a link to a good resource for very effective and natural facial serums suited for your skin type. Try to mask two or three times a week with a clay based or astringent masque, like Eminence’s Sour Cherry.

    Good luck!
