Any acne product you recommend (for dry/combo acne prone skin and acne scars)?
I recently started getting acne. (And by recently, I mean last year in 6th grade. The same year I just started getting my menstrual cycle. a.k.a period.)
Any-whoo. I'm in the 7th grade and I'm 12 years old. I have combo/dry skin, and I've tried almost every product in the world. Which isn't very wise considering the fact that the economy's bad. :P
HISTORY:
When I started getting my monthly, I also got a zit once a month. I used some products, but it didn't work. It started getting worse in the beginning on 2010. I started getting 2-3 zits a month, and then, right when I went to go to China, (around July) I had 6-7 zits all over my face. I just broke out. Blackheads, whiteheads, crystalline acne, anything and everything. You name it, I had it.
I couldn't stick to a daily regimen because when I was in China, I was in a village, and plus, you don't see many 12 year olds with travel size acne kits, now do you?
Anyway, when I came back to America, some of my acne had diminished. I was stuck with a lot of scars. But my skin was still pretty bad because my pimples just kept coming back. When one zit had disheveled, another comes. When that goes away, another comes. It was a never ending cycle. But then I started using Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Cleanser and it went back to 1-2 pimples a month. I'm still stuck with scars.

Now that that's done, can anyone recommend me some products? I know that everyone's skin is different, but I'm still willing to try anything and everything to reduce my acne and my acne scars. I know I inherit my acne from my mom (she had had it when she was little and my brother has acne too...but much less milder than mine) and maybe because of my period? I don't know.

You sound like me. I started getting acne in the middle of 7th grade, and I had perfectly clear skin before. So naturally, I bought Neutrogena acne products and used them religiously for six weeks (the same products you listed). My dad noticed my pimples and took me to my doctor because he had severe acne when he was a teen and didn’t want me to feel self conscious.
Anyway, my doctor prescribed me minocycline, which is an antibiotic pill that you take twice a day. It worked miracles for me, and my face looked better in a few days (I only had mild to moderate acne though). My doctor also prescribed me clindamycin phosphate, which is a topical antibiotic, and also Retin-A (tretinoin). None of these medicines had side effects on me except for the Retin-A, which made me feel like I had a sunburn, so I stopped using it.
My face is now fairly pimple free, and when I do get pimples, they aren’t as severe. I use Clinique’s Three Step System for my skin type. Even though it’s a bit pricey, it works wonders! I had a ton of marks left behind from the acne, and they’re fading quickly now. If you’re interested in buying, now would be the best time because they have their holiday special. You get all three full sized products (GIANT!), the same products in travel size, and a bag to carry it in all for $60. It sounds expensive, but it’s a better deal than buying all three seperately. Check out Clinique’s website!
So basically what I’m saying is, try going to your doctor if your acne bothers you a lot. The products I was prescribed were fairly cheap. The minocycline cost $10, the clindamycin phosphate cost $10, and the Retin-A cost $30. I have health care with KAISER though, so I know going to the doctor isn’t as affordable for some people. If you can’t go to the doctor, then definitely try Clinique. It seems pricey at first, but it pays off over time. And if you don’t like the products, or they don’t work for you, they have a great return policy (so keep your receipt!). Good luck

hey this is wat i use for my acne it was recommended to me by a friend and it completely got rid of her acne and acne scars but its taking my skin a little longer i guess cuz everybodyz skin is different its working though… anywayz this is wat i use:
its a night cream dat comes in a blue container its called Noxzema and its sold at rite-aid
and its simply to use u just wash ur face and put Noxzema on ur face and wash it off in da morning its dat simply it may dry ur skin depending on ur skin type
P.S. avoid touching ur face, drink lots of water, eat asparagus, and avoid poking/popping ur pimples dats wat causes scarring, avoid hot water it drys ur skin more/ opens ur pores up making it easier for dirt/oil to enter ur skin and have lots of patience it might take a while for ur acne to go away
Good luck i hope it works :)
