Acne – What other options do I have?

I am so frustrated with my skin! I have tried:

- Birth control
- Mud masques
- Egg whites
- Honey
- Toothpaste
- Tablespoon of cream of tartar every day
- Avoiding dairy products
- Neutrogena products
- Drinking more water
- Washing my face more/less
- Cut sugar consumption in half

What other options do I have left to help it? I'll let it be known that my acne (blackheads, occasional whitehead and cystic pimples) is definitely worse before my period.

I'd like to try Accutane, but if my acne is mainly hormonal, is that a problem?
The dermatologists in my area are really hard to be referred to. I've heard quite often that they're only seeing those with very serious issues, like cancer.

  1. This is the only thing that has worked for me:

Wash Face 2x daily – Johnson’s Head to Toe Baby Wash
1st Layer – Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid (apply everywhere but eyelids)
2nd Layer – Clean & Clear Persa Gel (apply a thin layer everywhere but eyelids)
3rd Layer – CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion (apply to whole face, including eyelids and neck)

Works great and my skin is now perfect.

  2. go to walmart and get one of those pinkish scruffy sponges…in the cosmetic section….they cost about 2$….lightly scrub for about 1 min…not too long it will scrub the skin right off you…wash face well and rince well..do it twice a week but gently and just a moment or two until the black heads leave…then do this once a week after you notice the blackheads gone…..jean

  3. See a dermatologist; they deal with skin problems. You could have a mixture of types of acne. Seldom is diet involved.

  4. I would suggest that you go see your dermatologist. Every person is different when it comes to acne. Some people have more and some people have less. Acne can be caused by genetics, hormones, stress, and environment.
